Port of Uwajima

Port of Uwajima is located in the south-western part of Shikoku, and Kushima of the circumference of 10 km or more lies in the center of the port, making itself a natural breakwater. Port of Uwajima is a good natural port, to which ships at ports along the coast and large ships are evacuated when typhoon hits the area.
Port of Uwajima was designated as an important port in June 1960, and the companies related to the food manufacturing and feedstuff manufacturing as the main industries in Uwajima City are located in the immediate backland of port. Nanyo Region with Uwajima City at center is specialized for primary industry, and many of the handled cargos are sea products and animal/botanic feedstuff and fertilizers.
