Port of Kochi

Port of Kochi, located at the center of Tosa Bay, consists of the inner port of Urado Bay and Kochi Shinkou facing outer sea. With a site producing high-quality lime stone indispensable in our steel industry in the backland, Port of Kochi plays an important role as a loading port.
Located around the Port of Setouchi are the cement, ship building, chemicals, timber plants, as well as oil tanks and Chuo Wholesale Market. Also at the Port of Kochi, a foreign trade container seaway, only one in Kochi Prefecture, was opened when partial service of the port was started in 2008, and 2 services are available currently to Korea per week. The port also makes itself a port of importing coal and accepting large passenger ships.
Currently, for the purpose of maintaining the stillness of port and secure a harbor shelter area, an embankment is under construction. (Port Administrator: Kochi Prefecture)
