Hanaguri Seto Fairway

Hanaguri Seto Fairway between Omishima Island and Hakata Island in Seto Inland Sea is the shortest way to connect Honshu Mainland with Shikoku, and is passed by a number of fast ships very frequently. This fairway has a narrow and bent seaway with fast tide, and is feared to cause ship wrecks. In years 1983 through 1985, therefore, bedrocks and gravel were removed from the fairway (approx 70,000 m3). Currently, the fairway is maintained well.
